Dr. Pankaj N. Maheshwari is a distinguished Urologist with over 23 years of expertise, renowned for his pioneering work in upper tract endourology, lithotripsy, and laser surgeries. He introduced the Holmium laser to urology in India and was one of the first to perform Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate (HoLEP) for managing Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) in 1998.

Dr. Maheshwari has achieved several surgical milestones in India, including being the first to perform procedures like laparoscopy-assisted percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) for large kidney stones in pelvic kidneys, and laparoscopic repair of spontaneous bladder perforation. He also developed a novel technique for laparoscopic placement of CAPD catheters, reducing complications significantly. His work in therapeutic flexible ureteroscopy, which he began in 1999, further showcases his innovative approach in urology.

Dr. Maheshwari earned his MBBS and MS from GMC Nagpur and completed his MCh in Urology at Grant Medical College, Mumbai, where he trained under esteemed mentors like Dr. Percy Chibber and Dr. Madhav Kamat. In recognition of his achievements, he received the prestigious Societe Internationale Urology Traveling Fellowship (1999-2000), which enabled him to train further in Holmium laser techniques in New Zealand and New York.

With over 50 national and international publications, including citations in Campbell’s Urology textbook, Dr. Maheshwari’s contributions to the field are widely acknowledged.
